I was born the youngest of my family and raised in Chuncheon, Kangwon-do, South Korea. I attended at Kangwon Nat’l University as an undergraduate and also as a graduate student. I received my M.S. degree under Dr. K.T. Park with my thesis entitled Systematics of Subfamily Gelechiinae in Korea. I received my Ph.D. under Dr. R. L. Brown with my dissertation entitled: Systematics of Holartic genera of Teleiodini (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae).
